Barbara Fifield

Barbara Fifield is the author of two novels, Photographs and Memories, Lucifer Rising and a book of self-illustrated poems, Passion’s Evidence. She is a retired social worker and journalist who has published widely in newspapers and literary journals and a member of several writing groups, including Tomoka Poets and the Ormond Beach Writers’ League. Fifield resides in Port Orange, Florida.

Photographs and Memories

How many losses can Angela endure? Angela and Kevin must move to Florida, and fast! They have just discovered that Angela’s younger sister, Martha, is sponging off Angela’s elderly parents in Florida. But they must give up all they have, including their home in New York to move south. Once they get there, they must find new jobs and a place to live. Soon after they arrive, Angela’s mother dies and her father has to be placed in a nursing home. Martha still resists moving out of the family home. Under all of the strain, Kevin suffers a stroke. How will Angela cope on her own? Photographs and Memories is based on the author’s own experiences with aging parents and losing a husband. This will ring true for anyone who has had similar losses.
